Dawn Aerospace is a Dutch/Kiwi startup which builds in-space propulsion systems (small thrusters for satellites), and is developing a re-usable spaceplane. I worked there as a technician from September 2022 to November 2023.
The CubeDrive team (I'm on the left here)
I worked on Dawn's SatDrive and CubeDrive products.
Specifically, I helped with electrical assembly & testing. I was very fortunate to work on these products at an early stage in their development, where troubleshooting was quite frequent.
Several systems which I worked on are currently oeprating in orbit; One system in particular is now tumbling around in deep space (AstroForge's Odin mission).
I was very fortunate to have taken part in early radiation test campaigns, and subsequently got very interested in radiation effects on microelectronics.
There's a whole scientific community working on this topic. If you're interested, or need to learn about it for work, I highly recommend reading through Edmond's "An Introduction to Space Radiation Effects on Microelectronics" paper. There are also short courses offered at the IEEE NSREC and RADECS conferences.
